Mississippi Hippy dishes on what to expect in Spring Fashion

Hello Minglers!

Today I have interviewed a very special guest, and one of my favorite fashion bloggers The Mississippi Hippy!  Chelsea Eli is the creator of The Mississippi Hippy, and lives in Hattiesburg, MS.

MS Minglin asked Chelsea what we could expect for Spring when it comes to fashion, and here is what she had to say…

MS Minglin:What are the new trends coming up for Spring?
Chelsea:Some of the hottest trends for this spring are lots of black and white contrast, bold stripes, luxe leather, and sporty dresses.

MS Minglin:Any specific colors making an appearance this season?
Chelsea: Bright, bold, electric colors are going to be every where you look this season. You won’t be able to miss them.

MS Minglin:Will anything make a fashion come-back? I.e. Rompers last year.
Chelsea: Believe it or not, a lot of 90s styles are coming back, like knee socks, scrunchies and overalls. I haven’t quite decided how I feel about it just yet, but I did love Wildfox’s Clueless inspired lookbook this season. MS Minglin:What is your favorite Spring outfit?
Chelsea: just love a good sundress for Spring and Summer. I have a white, eyelet dress by Flying Tomato in my closet that is constantly on repeat when it starts getting warmer. I’m excited to pair it with my new denim vest when the temperatures rise a little. Dresses are just so effortless and easy to throw on when the days get longer.

MS Minglin:How should you accessorize your Spring look?
Chelsea:When it comes to Spring and Summer looks, I’m all about less is more. If your outfit is bold, stick to simple, understated accessories. If you’re outfit is more conservative or reserved, stick to one good statement piece like a chunky necklace or stacked bracelets. You should always wear your clothes and accessories; they shouldn’t wear you.

MS Minglin:Where is your favorite place to shop?
Chelsea:My favorite places to shop around Hattiesburg are Irie (https://www.facebook.com/irieboutique?fref=ts) and Fetiche (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fetiche-Shoe-Boutique/205178936206038?fref=ts). They always have the edgier and more unique lines that are more my style. I also love TJ Maxx because I’m a label whore on a grad student budget. They have some of the best designer pieces for half the regular price.

MS Minglin:What are celebrities wearing for Spring?
Chelsea: So far, the trends I’m seeing on celebrities for Spring are the black and white contrast, lots of leather and bold stripes. These are great because they can all easily transition into different seasons and are simple for anyone to imitate.

MS Minglin: Where can people get really good deals on Spring Apparel?
Chelsea: I’m telling you, TJ Maxx is where it’s at. They had some super cute maxi dresses the other day that were perfect for Spring. Also, I love GAP clothes, but I hardly ever buy them full price. Every season, they have an incredible sale where all the clearance items are 40% off on top of the already marked down price, and the rest of the store is 25% off. This past Summer during the sale, I got 3 cardigans for $15 each and a super cute coral colored eyelet skirt for $4. Yeah. $4. I highly suggest hitting up that sale.

MS Minglin:When will we see a Spring Fashion article on Mississippi Hippy?
Chelsea: Readers should be on the look out for a Spring trends post next week, along with some exciting news about Fashion Week New Orleans.

There you have it, Minglers! Hope this gives you a better idea on how to dress this season!
